Sewer Video
TV Rock Stars of another venue

Rocks & Roots? While some see dirt & debris and others muck & yuck… Our experienced Plumbers see clearly how they can save you considerable expense over exploratory excavation in location and remediation of failed sewer lines.

Minimally invasive sewer line analysis is applying state of the art video technology to locate the exact magnitude and extent of damaged sewer lines within your system. Hydraulic Shovel Conventional methodologies of excavation are expensive, and if pavement is removed and replaced the costs become extreme.

Utility Service Express can mitigate this problem through use of miniature TV cameras in conjunction with positional system devices that can strategically fit into a sewer line as small as three inches in diameter. Our highly skilled technicians then decipher the video imagery to pinpoint location(s) of failure.

We were early adopters of this technology acquiring our first a TV Sewer Camera in 1981. And we have been applying this technology successfully ever since. Utility Service Express can send a Master Plumber with over sixteen years experience to evaluate your sewer problem. As in other applied technologies EXPERIENCE is critically important to the accurate interpret what the camera sees and records. "USE" our experience for the best professional results!

Why are sewer lines such a challenge?

By jurisdictional code sewer lines must run four feet below water lines. In the Washington Metro design area water lines have a mandatory minimum of cover of four-feet (often more is necessary.) Add to this requirements four-feet of vertical separation below water mains for the sewer line (whenever they share the same right of way) and you quickly realize that sewer lines are at a depth of at least 8 to 10 feet in the street or adjacent easement.

Your sewer house connection runs from your dwelling at six or more feet of depth. BackHoe While there are unique exceptions for "hung" sewers and ejector pumps we have found the majority to be at substantial depth to warranty cost-effective alternatives to exploratory excavation.

Fixing a broken sewer line is not expensive.
Locating the break can be!

Examples of images our professionals see with our Sewer Video Camera.

Rocks in sewer clean-outRocks dropped into a sewer clean-out (by vandals) causing blockage.

Rocks were removed and the clean-out cap was sealed and secured to prevent further vandalism.
Root entryTree root invasion of sewer causing near total loss of capacity.

Root entry was "surgically" removed and sewer line repaired.
Broken joint in sewer pipePipe Joint failure resulting in separation and off-set in sewer line.

To make sensible and prudent decisions on options for repair or replacement of joint failures the complete length of sewer line needs to be analyzed in its entirety.
Debris in sewer pipeDebris in sewer line (new home) causing frequent blockages in system.

Homeowner had no way of knowing the problem source without costly excavation. They choose instead cost-effective Video analysis and the line was quickly brought back to full capacity.
